Day 3: Pinpoint Your Energy Leaks
Welcome back to the Sacred Routine Challenge! Over the past two days, we’ve set our intentions and observed our current daily rhythm with curious, non-judgmental eyes. Now that you have a clearer picture of what a typical day looks like, it's time to become detectives and identify the small, often sneaky, habits that are secretly draining our energy. I call these “energy leaks.”

An energy leak isn't always a huge, dramatic event. It's that moment you wake up and immediately grab your phone, only to lose 20 minutes to scrolling before your feet even hit the floor. This is exactly why I keep my phone out of my bedroom at night!!

It's the constant notifications that pull your focus away from your work. It's the afternoon slump that has you reaching for a third cup of coffee, or the feeling of being overscheduled and overcommitted. These little leaks may seem insignificant on their own, but together, they can leave you feeling depleted, unfocused, and out of alignment with your goals.

Today's task is simple: identify one of these habits, distractions, or patterns that consistently throws your day off balance. Don't try to tackle everything at once. The goal is to choose one specific thing that, if addressed, would have a significant positive impact on your well-being.

Take a moment to review the daily rhythm you wrote down yesterday. What jumps out at you? Is there a particular habit that makes you feel rushed, stressed, or uninspired? Perhaps it's the urge to check email as soon as you open your eyes, the mindless snacking in the afternoon, or the late-night Netflix binge that leaves you tired the next day. Be honest with yourself and choose the one that feels most urgent to address.

Once you’ve identified your energy leak, write it down in your journal . Next to it, describe how it makes you feel. Does it create anxiety? Does it make you feel out of control? Acknowledging the emotional impact of this habit is a powerful step toward creating change.

By pinpointing a specific energy leak, we are bringing it out of the shadows and into the light of our awareness. This is the foundation of intentional living. Tomorrow, we'll begin to brainstorm how to plug this leak. But for today, simply recognize it. This small act of mindful awareness is the first step toward a more sacred routine, giving you back the energy and time you've been unknowingly giving away.
