DIY Non-Toxic Laundry Detergent
My family is the most important thing in my life.  I love them, and I want only the best for them.  And that means, whenever I can, I want to give them a non-toxic option.

Now, my kids are teenagers, and using non-toxic products can be so “uncool” and they don’t always like to do so, unless mom is there watching.  The same thing with my husband.  Being busy and having things be convenient is probably their number one priority.

I say, we can have both!!

I know that for my family, in order for everyone to use the non-toxic products they need to be convenient.

And sometimes convenient means that I replace a product with something that they use on a regular basis.  Well, that’s just what I did with my laundry detergent.  I made my own.  One that smells great and works great, too.

I used only a couple of products, and it took almost no time to do it.  Which is the best part!!

You will need a glass dispenser.  Glass is best, because this recipe does have ingredients that have essential oils in it.  And glass does not leak harmful contaminants into the liquids inside.

Here is the recipe for 1 gallon jar.

1 gallon of distilled or reverse osmosis water
¼ cup of Young Living Laundry Detergent
â…› cup or 2 Tbsp of Thieves Household Cleaner
½ cup washing soda
5-7 drops of Young Living essential oils of choice (I like to use oils like Thieves, Purification & Lavender)

  1. Heat approximately 4 cups of the one gallon of water.
  2. Put ½ coup of the washing soda in your jar.  Use the warmed water and dissolve it completely before adding other ingredients.
  3. Add ¼ cup of Young Living Laundry Detergent
  4. Add â…› cup (2 Tbsp) of Young Living Thieves Cleaner
  5. Add 5-7 drops of Young Living Essential Oils to give your laundry detergent a boost.
    1. I like to use different combinations such as 3 drops of Thieves and 2 drops of Purification or 3 drops of Thieves and 3 drops of Lavender.  You can use the oils that you gravitate towards.
  6. Stir all ingredients together using the warm water, and add the remaining water from your gallon to fill your dispenser.
  7. I like to keep a wooden spoon nearby to stir it before use.  Sometimes the ingredients will settle a bit on the bottom, but they stir up nicely.

If you need any Young Living products, reach out to me and I can get you all set.  If not, no biggie.
