Day 2: The Power of Observation
Welcome back to the Sacred Routine Challenge! Yesterday, we set the stage by defining what we truly want our routines to give us. Today, we're moving from intention to awareness. This step is crucial, as it’s impossible to change what you’re not aware of. We’re going to act like mindful observers of our own lives, taking a curious and non-judgmental look at our current daily rhythm.

For many of us, our days are a blur of hurried actions and reactive responses. We wake up, grab our phone, rush through getting ready, and before we know it, we're already feeling behind. Our morning routine might be a chaotic dash, our afternoon routine a series of urgent tasks and distractions, and our evening routine a collapse onto the couch, scrolling through social media until we fall asleep. These habits aren't necessarily "bad," but they might not be serving our deepest desires. They could be the very energy leaks, those small unconscious actions that drain your energy, we talked about yesterday.

So, today's task is simple but profound: observe and record. Your mission is to write down your morning, afternoon, and evening routines as they are right now. Don’t try to change anything, and don’t make anything right or wrong,  just notice. What time do you wake up? What’s the very first thing you do? How do you prepare for the day? What do your lunch breaks look like? How do you wind down at night?

Think of this as a detective mission. You are the detective, and your life is the case. You're simply gathering evidence—not to judge it, but to understand it. Pay attention to the small, unconscious habits. Do you hit snooze three times? Do you check work emails right before bed? These seemingly insignificant actions are the building blocks of your day, and understanding them is the first step toward building something new.

This process of mindful observation helps us uncover patterns we didn't even know existed. It brings our unconscious habits into the light of day, where we can then decide if they are aligned with the intention you set yesterday. Remember, the goal here is not to create a "perfect" routine, but a sacred routine—one that is aligned with your values and makes you feel more alive, more peaceful, and more connected.

Take out your journal and write down your rhythms. There’s no need to use fancy words or perfect sentences. Just be honest with yourself. This is your personal map, and you’re about to discover the path you’ve been on so that you can consciously choose where to go next.

Meet Sarah Sik

For so long, I was filled with anxiety.  My emotions were all over the place.

I am a military wife and mom of two boys.

Always needing to be braced for change filled me with so much stress and overwhelm.  My thoughts and feelings were running wild.  I felt like I was always fighting an uphill battle, and never gaining any traction.

Then, something magical happened and things started to change.

It was like walking into the most beautiful forest and seeing the sun shining down brightly on my face as I peeked up at the sky.

Suddenly, I started to take control and things just became clearer.
