Welcome back to the Sacred Routine Challenge! We're continuing our journey inward this week, moving from the "doing" of last week to the "being" of this one. Yesterday, we explored the difference between discipline and devotion. Today, we're going to put that concept into practice by reflecting on the rituals you've added so far.
Now that you've been consistently engaging with your sacred routines, it's time to check in and see how they actually feel. This isn't about judging yourself or deeming a ritual "good" or "bad." It's simply about noticing what's working and what isn't. The most sustainable routines are the ones that genuinely support you, not the ones that feel like another item on a checklist.
Your task for today is a simple, yet insightful, reflection. Take out your journal and ask yourself two questions:
1. Which daily practice is supporting you the most so far?
Think about the new rituals you’ve introduced. Is it your sacred morning start? The grounding midday pause? Your evening wind-down? Which one brings you the most genuine sense of peace, energy, or clarity? Pay attention to the feeling. When you engage in this practice, do you feel a sense of calm or joy? Does it feel like a cherished moment in your day? This is a practice that is rooted in devotion. Celebrate it and acknowledge how it's making a positive impact on your well-being.
2. Which daily practice feels the most forced?
Be honest with yourself here. Which ritual feels like a chore? Which one do you rush through or skip altogether? Is there a practice that you’ve been doing out of a sense of obligation rather than genuine desire? This is an opportunity to identify a routine that may be driven by discipline rather than devotion. It's not a failure; it’s just information. The goal of this challenge is to create a life that feels good to live, and that means adjusting your routines when they no longer serve you.
This deeper journaling practice helps you align your actions with your true needs. By recognizing what supports you and what feels forced, you can begin to customize your daily routine to be uniquely yours. A sacred routine isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution; it’s a personal journey of discovery.
As you move through the rest of the week, honor the practices that are working for you and be gentle with the ones that aren’t. There's always room to adapt, modify, or even release a ritual that no longer serves your highest good. This is a journey of self-love, and it starts with listening to your own wisdom.
