Day 10: Your Grounding Midday Pause
Welcome back to the Sacred Routine Challenge! We’re continuing to build small, supportive rituals into our day, and today we're focusing on the often-neglected midday slump. That point in the day when energy dips, focus wanes, and the to-do list seems endless. Instead of reaching for another caffeine boost or mindlessly scrolling through social media, today we’ll introduce a grounding midday pause—a short, intentional break to reconnect with yourself and recharge.

This isn't about adding more to your already busy schedule. It's about carving out just five minutes to intentionally shift your energy and bring a sense of calm and focus back into your day. Think of it as a mini-reset button for your mind and body.

Your task for today is to choose one small practice for your grounding midday pause. Here are a few ideas to consider:
  • A 5-minute walk: Step away from your workspace and take a short walk, even if it's just around your home or office. Pay attention to your surroundings, the feeling of your feet on the ground, and the rhythm of your breath. This simple movement can help clear your head and boost your energy.
  • Breathwork: Find a quiet spot and practice a simple breathing exercise. You could try box breathing (inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4, repeat), or simply focus on slow, deep inhales and exhales. Even a few minutes of conscious breathing can reduce stress and increase mental clarity.
  • Tea ritual: If you enjoy tea, take five minutes to mindfully prepare and sip a cup. Notice the aroma, the warmth of the cup in your hands, and the taste of the tea. Allow this to be a moment of quiet contemplation. I love to do blooming teas to really pause my mind. This teapot lets you see it bloom.
The most important thing is to choose a practice that resonates with you and feels genuinely grounding. This midday ritual should be a moment of self-care, a brief respite from the demands of the day. It’s an opportunity to step away from the mental chatter and reconnect with your senses.

By incorporating this sacred pause into your midday routine, you’re actively interrupting the cycle of stress and fatigue. You’re reminding yourself that taking care of your well-being is not a luxury, but a necessity. This small act of intentional living can make a significant difference in your energy levels, focus, and overall sense of well-being throughout the rest of your day. Experiment with these ideas and find what feels most supportive for you.

Meet Sarah Sik

For so long, I was filled with anxiety.  My emotions were all over the place.

I am a military wife and mom of two boys.

Always needing to be braced for change filled me with so much stress and overwhelm.  My thoughts and feelings were running wild.  I felt like I was always fighting an uphill battle, and never gaining any traction.

Then, something magical happened and things started to change.

It was like walking into the most beautiful forest and seeing the sun shining down brightly on my face as I peeked up at the sky.

Suddenly, I started to take control and things just became clearer.
