Welcome back to the Sacred Routine Challenge! We've spent the week so far building a foundation of awareness, and today, we're going to get specific about how we want to feel. The way we start our day often sets the tone for everything that follows. A chaotic, rushed morning can leave us feeling anxious and behind all day. Conversely, a peaceful and intentional morning can create a sense of calm and clarity that carries us through whatever comes our way.
Think back to the energy leaks you identified on Day 3. For many of us, the biggest drain happens first thing in the morning. The phone alarm, the social media scroll, the hurried breakfast—these habits can make us feel out of control before we even get to our desks. Today's task is about replacing that feeling with something better. We're going to use the power of intention to design a sacred morning ritual based on feeling, not just action.
So, here is your check-in for today. Take out your journal , or a fresh page, and simply write down three words that describe how you'd like your mornings to feel. Don't overthink it. Let the words come from your heart.
Do you want to feel peaceful? Energized? Grounded? Creative? Ready? Connected?
For example, your three words might be "calm, clear, and energized." Or perhaps "present, purposeful, and joyful."
By choosing these words, you're creating a powerful anchor for your day. You're not just creating a list of tasks (e.g., "wake up, meditate, make coffee"). You're defining the outcome of your morning routine. This shift in focus is key to creating a sustainable routine that you'll actually look forward to. When you feel a certain way, it becomes a powerful motivator to maintain the habits that create that feeling.
This exercise is a fundamental part of the mindset shifts we’re making this week. It takes you from a place of "have to" to "get to." You get to choose how your day begins. You get to cultivate a feeling that supports your well-being. Tomorrow, we’ll start building a small, actionable habit to align with these feelings. But for now, just sit with your three words. Read them out loud. Let them sink in. This simple act of intentional living is the first step toward reclaiming your mornings and, in turn, your entire day.
