Day 27: The Soundtrack of Your Sacred Routine
Welcome back to the Sacred Routine Challenge! We're nearing the end of our journey in Week 4, and today, we're going to bring another sense—hearing—into our sacred routines. We’ve learned that intentionality can be infused into every part of our day, and sound is one of the most powerful tools we have to signal to our brains that it's time to transition into a new state of being.

Think about how music impacts you. A high-energy song can get you pumped for a workout, while a calm melody can help you relax. Today's task is to harness that power by creating a sacred routine playlist to support your mornings or evenings. This isn't just background noise; this playlist will be a tangible anchor that cues your mind and body to enter a state of presence and calm.

Your task for today is to create a playlist for either your morning or your evening.
  • For your sacred morning playlist: Choose songs that are uplifting and gentle, without being jarring. The goal is to set a peaceful and intentional tone for your day. You might include instrumental tracks, ambient music, or songs with positive, calming lyrics. The moment you press "play," it signals that your morning ritual has begun.
  • For your sacred evening playlist: Select music that is soothing and relaxing. This playlist should help you transition from the demands of the day to a state of rest. Think acoustic tracks, classical music, or guided meditations. This playlist is your evening wind-down ritual in sonic form, signaling to your brain that it's time to slow down and prepare for sleep.

The length of the playlist can vary, but aim for something between 10 to 20 minutes to start. This makes it a sustainable habit that you can easily incorporate into your daily life. The key is to be intentional with your song selection. Choose music that genuinely makes you feel the way you want to feel in that moment—whether it's energized, peaceful, or present.

Using a playlist is a simple yet powerful way to habit stack. It can be attached to another ritual, like your morning stretch, your evening journaling, or even in the shower (I love this speaker because it’s waterproof, I use it daily) . This act of creating a soundscape for your routines is a beautiful form of self-care. It’s a way to consciously curate your environment and make it a supportive space for your well-being. By giving your sacred routine a soundtrack, you are solidifying its place in your life and making it an experience for all your senses.

Meet Sarah Sik

For so long, I was filled with anxiety.  My emotions were all over the place.

I am a military wife and mom of two boys.

Always needing to be braced for change filled me with so much stress and overwhelm.  My thoughts and feelings were running wild.  I felt like I was always fighting an uphill battle, and never gaining any traction.

Then, something magical happened and things started to change.

It was like walking into the most beautiful forest and seeing the sun shining down brightly on my face as I peeked up at the sky.

Suddenly, I started to take control and things just became clearer.

Have you ever tried to make a change in your life, only to get a week into it and say, “I’m tired, it can wait until tomorrow.”  Only tomorrow never happens!!  Then you end up feeling guilty and down in the dumps.
